The Artesia Fire Department and TriState CareFlight hosted and participated in a 9/11 memorial golf tournament Thursday, with proceeds donated to the Unit Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to the descendants of U.S. special forces members who died while on active duty.
“Who better to understand and support the spirit of giving and service than us, ‘the City of Champions:’ Artesia, N.M,” AFD administrative assistant Danielle Brady and Chief Kevin Hope wrote. “It is remarkable how often our local organizations step up and support education, and this is just another way to support our soldiers and their families who have given time and efforts in the advancement of educational opportunities for the families of Special Operations Soldiers.” … For the rest of the story, subscribe in print and on the web.
