The Artesia City Council will be announcing its choice for the city’s next fire chief at Tuesday’s regularly-scheduled meeting.

Amidst an otherwise very light agenda, the Personnel Department will request the council’s permission to hire a new chief at a pay rate of $7,000 per month.

The city will also look to approve the hiring of one uncertified police officer and one records supervisor.

The only other scheduled, off-consent-agenda item up for approval will be a mid-year budget adjustment resolution presented by City Clerk Aubrey Hobson. Hobson will also provide the council with a list of records for destruction.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Council Chambers at City Hall.
