Services are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Maria Reyes Calderon.
Calderon, 85, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Interment will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Steven, Pedro, Ismael Jr., Santiago Jr., Guillermo and Joseph Calderon, Mark Natera, and Shawn Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers are all of her remaining grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Terpening & Son Mortuary. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Grace.
Maria was born Jan. 5, 1932, in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Pedro and Rita (Lozano) Lopez.
On Dec. 15, 1950, she married Guillermo Calderon in Pecos, Texas, and the couple came to Artesia in 1951 from Texas.
Maria was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and worked as a homemaker raising her 11 children. She enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, taking care of her rose bushes, and watching the Dallas Cowboys when she had spare time.
Survivors include daughter Erminia Calderon of Artesia; sons Ramon Calderon and wife Vicki, Santiago Calderon and wife JoAnn, Raul Calderon and wife Sylvia, Manuel Calderon, Joe Calderon, and Martin Calderon and wife Elizabeth, all of Artesia; daughters-in-law Manuela Calderon and Concha Calderon, both of Artesia, and Elizabeth L. Calderon of Ohio; 39 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guillermo Calderon, on Feb. 13, 1996; her parents; sons John, Ismael, Richard and Robert; grandchildren Richard Jr., Abby and David; and three great-grandchildren.
