The Artesia Police Department will continue to make efforts during the month of February to keep the city’s streets safer.

They will do this by concentrating on dangerous driving habits such as driving under the influence (and other alcohol-related offenses), speeding, and non-usage of seatbelts and child restraint systems.

Sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and other operations may be used during the month.

The APD says they look forward to saving lives by first asking for voluntary compliance and then taking enforcement actions for these and other offenses.

“If you drink, don’t drive. The life you save may, indeed, be your own,” the department states.
