The New Mexico State Police are continuing to investigate a fatal accident that occurred Saturday in Hagerman.

Around noon Saturday, NMSP officers were called to the scene at 413 Stephens Road in Hagerman. When officers arrived on scene, they learned Lecil L. Warren, 96, had become trapped beneath a pickup and was unconscious.

Evidence at the scene revealed Warren had gotten out of the vehicle and failed to put the vehicle into park. The vehicle began to move in reverse, and Warren was struck by the vehicle, becoming trapped underneath.

EMS on scene extricated Warren from beneath the vehicle but were unable to resuscitate him.
