Memorial services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Church At Hobbs for Gaylon R. Turner of Hobbs.
Turner, 87, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in Hobbs.
Pastor John Ayers will officiate at the services.
Gaylon was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Mobeetie, Texas, to Harley and Bertha Turner.
He was a loving father and loved to cook. He retired from SPS and was an avid hunter. He loved taking care of his family. Gaylon owned Turner Field Service for 10 years.
Survivors include sons Gaylon G. Turner, Gerald L. Turner and Dakota L. Turner; sisters Nina McLerran and Mary Philips; grandchildren Kimberly Rodgers, Gloria Harrison and Dakota L. Turner and a special friend, Eric Thomas; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, and nine of his 12 brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers and food, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Church At Hobbs, P.O. Box 514, Hobbs, N.M., 88240.
