The Artesia man arrested in late November 2016 for firing a BB gun at an Artesia Police Department officer has been bound over to Fifth Judicial District Court.

Marcos Munoz, 33, was bound over on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and negligent use of a deadly weapon. A court date has not yet been set.

Munoz was arrested on the evening of Nov. 25, 2016, after the APD was called to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Sears Avenue.

Munoz, who initially refused to exit his home, approached an APD officer after exiting through a back door and fired a BB into the ground near the officer. It was later determined Munoz had fired a .22-caliber rifle out the window of his home prior to officers’ arrival.
