The snowfall that began this morning in Southeast New Mexico has forced a few changes to the Artesia High School basketball teams’ plans.

The Lady Bulldog basketball was scheduled to take on Clovis at 7 p.m. today at Bulldog Pit. That game has been cancelled due to concerns over road conditions between Clovis and Roswell. Because of the Lady Wildcats’ district schedule, it will not be made up.

The Lady ‘Dogs game against Deming, set for 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pit, is still on as planned.

The Bulldog basketball team, meanwhile, was slated to face Grants at 6 p.m. today in a Bengal Invitational winners’ bracket semifinal game in Gallup. However, due to a school policy that prohibits sports teams from competing on days when classes have been cancelled, Grants will be unable to play.

The Pirates will be bumped into the consolation portion of the bracket, and the ‘Dogs will take on Deming instead for the chance to advance to Saturday’s championship against the winner of Miyamura vs. Gallup.
