The suspect in a first-degree murder that occurred in May 2016 in Artesia has been bound over to Fifth Judicial District Court.

Gregory A. Valenzuela, 33, of Artesia, will appear on the murder charge and two counts of tampering with evidence. A date has not yet been set.

Valenzuela stands charged with the beating death of Adrian Acosta, 48, of Artesia, late in the evening of Monday, May 9, 2016, at a residence in the 400 block of Cleveland Avenue.

Acosta was found deceased with severe trauma to his neck and head, and was determined to have died due to “a violent attack at the hands of another.”
