Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at Catalyst Church for Maxine Gill.
Gill, 82, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, in Lubbock, Texas.
Nolan Frederick will officiate at the services.
Maxine was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Minco, Okla., to Claude E. and Roxie Frederick. She later moved to New Mexico, where she met Bill Gill, and the two were married May 15, 1953, in Roswell.
She and Bill remained in the area, living in Artesia, Carlsbad and Hobbs before eventually settling in Roswell. Maxine worked as a grocery store clerk and was also employed at Betty K Flowers and Print Shop in Roswell for a number of years before her retirement.
Maxine loved spending time with her family. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed being around them as much as possible. She also cared deeply about the needs of others and was always willing to help out any way she could. One of those ways included providing meals, because she was an excellent cook. Maxine loved to be around people, and she also enjoyed reading in her spare time. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, and will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Survivors include daughter Debbie Childress of Artesia; son Gary Gill and wife Jackie of Hobbs; sisters Juanita Witt of Cape Coral, Fla., and Claudette Easley of Midland, Texas; brothers Larry Frederick and wife Nikki of Fort Sumner, Ronald Frederick and wife Brenda of Carlsbad, and Donald Frederick and wife Carolyn of Artesia; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bill Gill; son-in-law Steve Childress; brother Floyd Frederick; and brother-in-law Ray Witt.
Arrangements are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Condolences may be expressed online at www.artesiafunerals.com.
