Carlsbad’s 6’9” senior Brenden Boatwright rebounds with authority this morning on Day One of the City of Champions Classic, dunking an offensive board to keep the Cavemen in the lead. Carlsbad edged El Paso Parkland 53-50 in the contest to remain in the winners’ bracket. The Cavegirls also won their first-round bout this morning over Tularosa, 50-40, while Silver’s girls topped Santa Teresa 49-23.
