In honor of Altrusa International’s 100th birthday (April 2017), the Altrusa Club of Artesia met the organization’s challenge to collect and donate 100 books to a local library, school district, or other educational institution. At left, several Altrusans look on as Elisabeth Jackson, literacy chairman, presents 100 books to Artesia Public Library Manager Laura Mischke and APL staff. The members of the local Altrusa Club are now working on a second book drive to collect 100 children’s books to be placed in local doctors’ office waiting rooms.
