The APD is holding its inaugural Moustache Growing Contest and Charity Event to celebrate Movember, a nationwide annual event that seeks to raise awareness of men’s health issues through moustaches.

11-25-selleckAPD contestants paid a $10 entry fee and submitted to photographic verification of a shaved upper lip in order to join the contest. Judging for the Best Overall Moustache by a surprise judge will be held shortly following a parade, slated for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Room W150 of the Public Safety Complex.

A “Most Tom Selleck-Like” competition is also being held, with the winner to be determined by monetary donations. Any amount of money for voting purposes can be donated by any citizen by visiting the APD Records Department during normal business hours. The winner will be announced at 5 p.m. Nov. 29.

Winners of the Best Overall and Most Selleck-Like moustaches will receive a prize during the parade.

All funds raised during the event will be donated to the American Cancer Society.
