TO THE EDITOR:

Dear “City of Champions,”

On behalf of the Artesia Downtown Lions Club, I would like to thank all the businesses and individuals for the tremendous support shown to our club during our 22nd Annual Tailgate Party. We are continually humbled by the generous spirit and faithfulness shown by the citizens of Artesia and our surrounding neighbors in supporting the many causes of our local club!

We would like to give special recognition to the following sponsors and donors which enabled us to achieve our most successful tailgate to date. Special thanks goes out to SD Services Inc./Johnny and Becky Hutson, Ralph “Skip” Nix, Brad and Nancy Larson, HollyFrontier Corp., Fenn’s Country Market, Jesus Enrique/Little Debbie Snacks, Burger King, Chaos Café, Concho Resources Inc., Artesia MainStreet, Sonic, Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., Central Valley Electric Cooperative, and Adobe Rose.

Your generosity enabled us to help defray or minimize the costs associated with the tailgate and allow us to maximize our funds to further support our Junior Lions scholarship program and expand our vision screening goals for all the kindergarten students and Head Start programs in Artesia and Lake Arthur. Your commitment to helping the Artesia Downtown Lions Club fundraising endeavors in our community is sincerely appreciated.

The motto of the Lions Club is “We Serve,” and special recognition needs to go out to all the Artesia Downtown Lions Club members and Junior Lions for their volunteering efforts in helping our 22nd Annual Tailgate Party to be a rousing success. Your service and commitment continue to make a difference in our efforts to serve those in our community and fulfill the vision of Lions International.

Thanks again for your generous support of our tailgate party and once again proving that Artesia really is the “City of Champions.”

Best wishes,
Gary D. Scott Jr.
Vice President, Artesia Downtown Lions Club
