The Artesia High School Student Council is currently accepting entries for the 2016 Homecoming parade.
The parade will begin at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Bulldog Bowl and proceed east on Main Street to Second Street.
The Bulldog football team will be taking on the Deming Wildcats at 7 p.m. Sept. 16, and this year’s parade theme is “Hollywood Films.”
Judges considering class, club and community entries submitted for judging will consider use of materials, creative use of space, incorporation of the theme, and overall display of school or community spirit. Judged entries must prominently display the name of the group or organization on the front of the towing vehicle or the side of the float itself.
Entry forms and fees must be submitted by noon Thursday, Sept. 8, to avoid a late charge of $10. Forms may be picked up at the AHS office; completed forms and fees must be personally registered at the high school with Amy Mathis or Judy Stewart.
Fees include: $15 for non-judged entries; $15 for single-vehicle entries; $20 for judged entries; a flat fee assessed for group entries, depending upon the number of vehicles entered, with an additional $5 for judged group entries.
Parade lineups and maps will be mailed to participants by Saturday, Sept. 10, and all entries are asked to arrive to the Bulldog Bowl parking lot no later than 2:15 p.m. the day of the parade.
Access to Bulldog Boulevard will not be allowed to anyone other than the Homecoming Court and AHS band. Personal vehicles, including parents dropping off children, must park in the AHS Auditorium/Bulldog Pit parking lot and walk across to the Bowl.
