The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District 2 has begun a resurfacing project on U.S. 285 that is expected to continue into next week.

The NMDOT is resurfacing approximately three miles of the highway from mile marker 77 to 80, just north of Artesia. Motorists should be aware of single-lane closures.

The project began Monday and is expected to be complete by next week, weather permitting.
