8-18-WreckIt was a busy evening to say the least for Artesia Police Department officers Wednesday as, while the department was working to apprehend the suspect in a shooting who had barricaded himself inside a home on Washington Avenue between 11th and 12th streets, a wreck occurred just two blocks away at 11th Street and Missouri Avenue. The accident involved the black 2010 Chevrolet pickup and silver 2014 Ford Focus pictured above. The Chevrolet was headed west on Missouri when it struck the Focus as it travelled north on 11th. The Focus ended up in the side yard of a home on the northwest corner as a result, narrowly missing a pickup parked there. The driver of the Focus was transported to Artesia General Hospital with minor injuries, and the vehicle was towed due to heavy damage. Citations are pending at this time.
