ARTESIA — Phase III of the 13th Street Rehabilitation Project is slated to begin on Monday, August 15.
Monday, August 15, is also the first day of school for the Artesia Public School District. This phase of construction is anticipated to go through January, 2017 and will include the exit onto 13th Street for Zia Intermediate School. Zia School is the ‘hub’ of bus transfers for the district as well.
Assistant of Operations Thad Phipps told the Daily Press this afternoon that the ‘hub’ will be moved to Park Junior High School until the construction is complete. “Parents can go to the APS website, http://www.bulldogs.org, and there they will find a letter concerning busing during this phase of the construction, as well a map detailing the road closures and bus changes. I urge the parents to visit with their child’ principals when they go to pick up their schedules and the letter and maps will be made available to them at that time as well.” Phipps went on to say that any concerns or questions can be addressed to his assistant, Pearl Valles at the Administration Office, 7463585.
“She can answer any questions they may have.”
On a lighter note, Phase II of the project is slated to be completed sometime Thursday, Aug.
11, weather permitting, which will make the entirety of 13th Street available to motorists for two days before Phase III begins.
