Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 16, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Ignacio M. ‘Nick’ Rodriquez Jr. of Artesia.

Rodriquez, 59, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2016, surrounded by loved ones and close friends.

Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at his Celebration of Life Service.

Rodriquez was born on Aug. 21, 1956, in Artesia to Ignacio ‘Nick’ and Eva Rodriquez.

Nick’s call of duty was with Central Valley Electric Coop for over 40 years, which was also his home away from home.

He never missed the opportunity to pose for the cameras or to participate in a parade while driving one of the CVE trucks.

He loved spending time in the mountains or casting a line into the lake. He also loved camping and boating and considered it his job to try to flip as many people as possible off the back of a tube while he drove the boat. He claimed, however, that no one could ever throw him off. When he wasn’t busy doing all of these things, he was busy combing his hair. He always had a joke to share and liked to make people laugh. But most of all he was a loving father, grandfather, and dear friend to many.

Survivors include his son Nick and wife Tracy Rodriquez of Illinois; daughter Tiffany and husband Michael Sherwood of Hagerman; grandchildren Michael, Rheawna, Kaleb, Dayna, Nick IV, Bobby and Steven; brother David and wife Sally Carrasco of Carlsbad; sisters Delores and husband Lalo Juarez of Artesia, Linda and husband Tony Martinez of Artesia, Mary Rodriquez of Roswell and Dora Gonzales of Albuquerque; beloved girlfriend Teresa Brown of Artesia; and the amazing family of Central Valley Electric.

Nick was truly loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Every time we see a lightning strike, we should smile because we know Nick is still climbing the electric poles and helping with the electricity in Heaven.

Enjoy your new journey, Dad.
