The New Mexico State Police are continuing to investigate a rollover accident that claimed the life of a Roswell man.

NMSP officers were dispatched around 2 a.m. today to mile marker 200 on U.S. 380 east of Roswell.

Their initial investigation determined a vehicle travelling westbound on 380 at a high rate of speed failed to navigate a curve in the roadway, losing control, exiting the roadway, and rolling.

The driver and sole occupant, Daniel M. Rivera, 19, of Roswell, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the accident.
