Cynthia Orona, 50, of Roswell, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2016, after a hard-fought, 15-year battle with brain cancer.
Her strong spirit and beautiful life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Church on the Move in Roswell.
A viewing for family and friends will be held until 7 p.m. today at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home in Roswell.
Cynthia was born June 30, 1965, in Eunice to Theresa Anstead and Samuel Rodriguez. She was a graduate of Roswell High School, where she excelled in all sports, obtaining multiple all-state honors in volleyball, basketball and track.
Cynthia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and volunteering for many local activities and charities, and was an active member in her church. She will be forever remembered by her million-dollar smile and the joy she brought to others.
Survivors include her loving partner, Joe Juarez; daughter Chelsea Orona; her two loving, four-legged fur babies, Bandit and Baby Girl; mother Theresa Anstead and husband Michael; brothers Noel Rodriguez and Rodney Rodriguez, both of Roswell, and Gabriel Rodriguez and wife Amy of Birmingham, Ala.; nieces Kristian Rodriguez, Samantha Rodriguez and Alexandra Rodriguez; stepchildren Felicia, Mitchell, Heather and Joseph; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Rodriguez; grandparents Dominga and Cecil Orosco, and Josefa and Faustino Rodriguez; nephew Xavyr Herrera; and niece Stormy Rae Rodriguez.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Katrina Sanchez, Tim Arlet and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care in helping Cynthia seek comfort. The family would also like to thank the numerous caring friends who were always there to help.
