Artesia Elks Lodge No. 1717 is currently accepting applications for its Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Scholarship.

The one-year, $1,000 scholarship is paid out in $500 increments at the start of each semester, subject to confirmation that GPA and enrollment requirements have been met.

The scholarship is available to graduating seniors and secondary students attending a recognized institution of higher education.

Recipients must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester and be considered by the registrar to be full-time, 12-credit-hour students. The funds must be used for tuition or books, and the economic need of the applicant will be considered.

Applications must be received no later than July 15 for the fall semester. Awards will be announced within 30 days of that date.

Recipients must reapply each year in order to continue to receive the scholarships, which are awarded on the basis of available funds and applicant eligibility.
