Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, June 6, at First Baptist Church for Charlene Crook of Artesia.
Crook, 81, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Ty Houghtaling and Jess McCabe will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at the Hagerman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Crook, Joby Morris, Wesley Ivans, Russell Crook, Ty Crook, Tim Duncan, Jason Krogman and Hector Montanez. Honorary pallbearers are all of her granddaughters.
Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Charlene was born Aug. 11, 1934, in Lake Arthur to Willard and Georgia (Mills) Needham.
On Nov. 11, 1950, she married Thomas Arthur Crook in Pecos, Texas.
She was a lifelong member of Lake Arthur Baptist Church, where she served as music director for several years.
Charlene was a devoted farm wife and loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working at the Cottonwood Fire Department, where she proudly served on the election polling committee. She was an avid home interior decorator and sold home interior for many years in the Pecos Valley.
Survivors include her children, Johnny Crook and wife Pat, Pat Ivans and husband Larry, Janie Morris and husband Brad, and Mark Crook and wife Denise, all of the Lake Arthur/Artesia area; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry Needham and wife Kay, and Lewis Needham and wife Susan; and sister Peggy Scott and husband Bill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Crook, on Sept. 19, 1999, and her parents.
