5-29-WetNWildThe Ride for Bikes organization’s annual Wet ‘n Wild Tour returns just as temperatures in Artesia are heating up, offering participants of all ages a thrilling way to cool down.

The event features a four-mile course that participants may walk, run, bike or skate as they choose, all while being drenched by volunteer “Soaker Teams” organized by area fire departments and businesses. Participants will vote on their favorite Soaker Station following the event.

The 2016 Tour will begin with race packet pick-ups at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Eddy County Fairgrounds. Tour start times include 9 a.m. for bicyclists; 9:10 a.m. for runners; and 9:20 a.m. for walkers and skaters. Children under 18 must wear helmets while riding bikes.

Registration cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 8-18. Children 0-7 may participate free. All proceeds benefit Ride for Bikes’ annual Christmas bike program and the Ride to Meet the Challenge Scholarship Fund.

Participants are urged to register online prior to the event at www.rideforbikes.com.
