Ezell, 82, passed away March 11, 2016, at her home.
Leslie Hendrix and Nolan Frederick will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be nephew Jason Hendrix, grandsons Cory Frederick, Tanner Ezell and Travis DeMerritt, and family friends George Sprouse and Mitch Bagwell.
Ruth was born March 18, 1933, in Heavener, Okla., to Lewis and Elsie Hendrix. She later moved to Artesia, where she met and married Jessy James Ezell on Aug. 1, 1953.
She was employed by the Artesia Public Schools working in the cafeteria for 25 years before retiring in 1993. She also volunteered at the Hospital Auxiliary during that same time. In her later years, she enjoyed the company of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends.
Ruth enjoyed spending time listening to her husband’s bluegrass band, Family Tradition, for many years. She loved to go shopping and especially enjoyed visiting with her family and friends – never meeting a stranger. She will be remembered as a kind and loving woman who cared for others and always sought to see the good in people.
Survivors include brothers Leslie Hendrix and wife Francis, and Leon Hendrix and wife Donna, both of Artesia; sisters Kay Huffmon and husband Elton of Roswell and Phyllis Singleton of Carlsbad; sons Thomas Ezell and wife Debbie, and Ray Ezell, both of Artesia; daughter Carolyn Frederick and husband Donald of Artesia; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jessy Ezell; sons Jim Ezell and Rusty Ezell; daughter Jessica Mayfield; one son-in-law; one daughter-in-law; two brothers; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Catalyst Church, 1107 S. Watson Blvd., Artesia, N.M., 88210.
Arrangements are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Condolences may be expressed online at www.artesiafunerals.com.
