New Mexico State Police say a Texas man was killed after a vehicle he was riding in crashed near Roswell.

Authorities say the driver, 34-year-old Felipe Martinez of Amarillo, Texas, was traveling east on U.S. 70 when the incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, a tire on the vehicle blew out. They say the car then overturned several times. Passenger Able Portillo, 58, was thrown from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Martinez and two other passengers were transported to the hospital with injuries. Their condition was not immediately known.

According to police, Portillo was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
