Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Virginia Lee Cockrum of Artesia.

Cockrum, 65, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at San Pedro Nursing Center.

Michael Elliott will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathon Herrera, Joshua Smith, Hunter Baugh and Ethan Murphy.

Virginia was born Jan. 17, 1951, in Artesia, the daughter of John and Lois (Rooker) O’Brien. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On April 28, 1969, she married Steve Cockrum in Pecos, Texas.

She was a saleslady at Marsh’s in Artesia and a member of Cornerstone Church. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Steve Cockrum, of the family home; son Stephen Craig Cockrum and wife Robin of Bridgeport, Texas; daughter Amy Herrera and husband Gerald of Artesia; grandchildren Jonathon Herrera and wife Jenna, Chelsi Baugh and husband Hunter, Tori Cockrum, Joshua Smith, Jordan Herrera and Lexi Cockrum; and sisters Janice Allen of Austin, Texas, and Cheryl Butts and husband Jerry of Artesia.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
