1-31-MistahPottahWizards, witches and Muggles alike are invited to take part in a local celebration of the Second Annual Harry Potter Book Night at the Artesia Public Library.

The event is celebrated throughout the world, and the Artesia library decided to join the fun this year, hosting an unforgettable “Night of Spells” from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share the wonders of J.K. Rowling’s unforgettable stories, and most excitingly, introduce the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter.

“A Night of Spells” will include activities, crafts, snacks, potions, a costume contest, readings, and more. It all begins when the Sorting Hat decides who will be in which house. A Potion Corner will be created, and each wizard will also make their own House colors felt tie and magic wand.

Fans are encouraged to dress in their best costumes inspired by the world of Harry Potter for a chance to win “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone: The Illustrated Edition.”

“We are so excited to be joining up with schools, libraries, bookstores, and community centers all across the world to celebrate our first Harry Potter Book Night at the library,” said Erin Loveland, teen services librarian. “We have always been fans of the Harry Potter books because they bring a sense of magic and adventure to all ages.”

“A Night of Spells” is free and open to the public. No registration is required, and all ages are invited to participate in the magic. For more information, call the library at 746-4252.
