Graveside services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Essie Hernandez Juarez of Artesia.
Juarez, 87, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, in the Artesia General Hospital emergency room.
Pallbearers will be Tony Huerta, Chava Flores, Chava Flores Jr., Brady Flores, Cooper Flores and Jaycob Huerta.
Essie was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Artesia, the daughter of George and Martina (Garcia) Hernandez. She was a lifelong Artesia resident.
On June 6, 1948, she married Ismael Juarez in Artesia.
She was a licensed practice nurse and had worked in the emergency room, then at several doctors’ offices. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed embroidering.
Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Flores and husband Chava and Susan Huerta, both of Artesia; sons Alfred Juarez and wife Rosalinda of Midland, Texas, and Ismael Juarez of North Carolina; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters Cruz Alvarado and Florence Diaz, both of Artesia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ismael Juarez, on Oct. 31, 2004; her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
