Madge Earlene Wells

A “celebration of life” is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Moose Lodge in Truth or Consequences for Madge Earlene Wells of T or C.

Wells, 74, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, in Las Cruces. Cremation has taken place.

She was born Nov. 2, 1941, in Vernon, Texas, the daughter of Jesse Earl and Mary Genevieve Hilliard. She was raised in Artesia and moved to T or C in the summer of 1986.

Earlene worked her entire adult life in various sales and clerk jobs. She enjoyed fishing, life at the beach, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters Janice Dobbs and husband Arlon of Tioga, Texas, and Debbie Miller and husband Danny of Carlsbad; son Charles “Chuck” Wells of T or C; brother Jesse Hilliard of Artesia; sister Frances Gray and husband Jim of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren Lindsey Hall, Logan Dobbs, Stephanie Miller, Jeremy Wells and Shane Wells; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Earl and Mary Hilliard, of Artesia; and sisters Mary Wynona Powers of Sacramento, Calif., and Nora Jean Simpson of T or C.
