Volunteers pause from loading boxes for a photo at the conclusion of the 2015 Operation Christmas Child campaign in Artesia. First Baptist Church served as the local drop-off point for the annual effort, organized by Samaritan’s Purse, in which citizens fill shoeboxes with gifts for children overseas. This year, a total of 1,128 boxes were gathered by the Artesia community and local churches.
