Vega joins a team of professionals who provide medical, dental and behavioral health services to the community. Vega received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Brigham Young University and a Master of Clinical Health Services from MEDEX University of the Washington School of Medicine. His physician assistant education was also from MEDEX.
Vega and his wife, Sophia, have three children: Samuel, 7, Aria, 2, and newborn Asher, 4 weeks old. The couple has roots in Carlsbad and enjoys road cycling, mountain biking, hiking, and exploring New Mexico.
“I look forward to helping provide a solution for medical service shortages in rural America,” Vega said of his career and of his return to southeastern New Mexico, “and particularly for the underserved and Spanish-speaking populations.”
Vega became fluent in Spanish while living in Chile.

As with all PMS community health centers, the AFHC is Joint Commission accredited and accepts all patients regardless of financial or insurance status. Payment options include Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance. For those who are uninsured, payment is on a sliding scale based on income. Same-day appointments are available.
