Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at First Christian Church for Norma Jane Watts of Artesia. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Dunken Cemetery in Dunken.

Watts, 79, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Watts was born Jan. 21, 1936, in Breckenridge, Texas, the daughter of Charles Miller and Lorraine (Glass) Miller. She was a longtime resident of the Dunken and Pinon area.

On June 6, 1954, she married Sonny Watts in Artesia.

She was a housewife and member of First Christian Church, the Cowbelles, Altrusa, New Mexico Wool Growers’ Association, past president of the Women’s Wool Growers’ Association, the Good Samaritan Helpers Club, and the Pinon Extension Club.

Survivors include her husband, Sonny Watts, of Artesia; daughters Mittie Runyan and husband Mel of Artesia and Mendy Hathorn and husband Randy of Lubbock; sister Patsy Miller of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Mandy Norman, Geoffrey Hathorn, Mattie Henson and Marlee Runyan; great-grandchildren
Logan Hathorn, Braxton Norman and Madison Hathorn; step-great-grandchildren Morgan Norman, Brooke Norman, Tyler Henson, Payton Henson and Lauren Henson; and step-great-great-grandchild Joselyn Henson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Linda McCarthy; and a grandson, Chad Hathorn.
