Fire Chief Tom Navarrette of the Riverside Fire Department addresses students in the Hippo and Kangaroo classes at Grand Heights Early Childhood Center last Tuesday as part of Fire Safety Week at the kindergarten. Students learned the importance of making an evacuation plan if a fire were to start in their home. Pictured from left are Navarrette, Katelyn Bennett, junior firefighter, Captain Gary Romine, Sidney Romine, junior firefighter, Lt. Chris Cook, and Assistant Fire Chief Chris Chavarria. “I’m so grateful for the opportunity to educate these kids,” Navarrette said. “If they take away at least one thing from today, it’ll make my day.”
