Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Jal Church of Christ for Wanda Joyce O’Neil of Jal.
O’Neil, 84, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015, in Artesia.
Brother Daryl Micham will officiate at the services, with interment to follow at the Jal Cemetery.
O’Neil was born April 16, 1931, in Midland County, Texas, to Clifton Allen and Velma Junie (Sweatt) Brown.
On May 27, 1948, she married Cecil O’Neil in Midland, Texas, and the couple celebrated 61 years together before being separated by his death in 2009.
In her early years, she worked for Brook’s Grocery in Midland, then the grocery store in Jal before retiring from the Jal school system after working in the cafeteria for many years.
She was an active member of the community and a member of the Jal Church of Christ, where she often helped with Bible classes. She loved her ladies’ Bible classes and calling others on the phone. She was a compassionate, beautiful, Christian woman with a contagious smile, heart of gold, and a sharp sense of humor.
She enjoyed her water aerobics and going to the Senior Citizens’ Center. She loved her family dearly and adored her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was truly an amazing woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Olen C. O’Neil Jr., and Pat of Odessa, Texas; daughters Alice Dehnel and husband Richard of Sundown, Texas, and LoRae McFarden and husband Glenn of Artesia; daughter-in-law Tammie O’Neil of Kemmerer, Wyo.; sisters Faye Davie and husband Maxie of El Paso, Texas, and Beni Brown of Midland; 10 grandchildren, Cory O’Neil and Sasha, Clay O’Neil, Casey Hernandez and husband Steve, Crissy Torres and husband Cisco, Sheena Salo and husband Dan, Robert O’Neil and wife Sarah, Rachel Willard and husband Allen, Russell Courtney, Katie McFarden, and KaLee Dehnel; great-grandchildren Jordynn, Logan, Bella, Isaac, Harley, Destiny, E.J. Diego, Cira, Ceeko, Shawn, Nathan, Jaxson, Brynlee and Ella; several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil O’Neil; parents Clifton and Velma Brown; and son Allen L. O’Neil.
