Drum major Michael Hope conducts the Artesia High School marching band this morning during its last practice before tonight’s Southeast New Mexico Music Educators Association District Marching Festival. The color guard competition will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the park outside the AHS band hall, and the marching contest begins at 5:20 p.m. at Bulldog Bowl. Artesia’s band is scheduled to perform at 6:30 p.m.
