Johnnie Johnson

Johnnie Johnson

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. today in the Good Samaritan Society Activity Room for Johnnie Johnson, formerly of Artesia.

Johnson, 60, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Lovington. David Stewart officiated at the services. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas.

Johnson was born May 31, 1955, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Roy A. and Delores Milbrandt Johnson. He was born into a military family and came to El Paso in 1969, residing there until 1996, when he moved to Artesia to be close to his sister. He came to the Good Samaritan Society in Lovington in 2014.

Johnson never met a stranger, and he always had a smile to share. His passions were watching “Star Trek” episodes, travelling, riding on Harley Davidson motorcycles, and camping in the mountains. He was fascinated by space and the space shuttle program. He was also country music star Susan Raye’s biggest fan.

Survivors include sister Becky MacArthur and husband Danny of Artesia; and nephew Shane MacArthur and wife Christine of Wichita, Kans.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home of Lovington. Condolences may be expressed online at www.stevensfuneral.com.
