Artesia Fire Department Fire Marshal James Abner instructs students in Becky Torrez’s fourth-period nutrition class at Artesia High School on how to put out a cooking fire as they prepare to head into the kitchens next week to make chocolate chip cookies. “Call 911 first, before you update your Facebook page telling everyone your house is on fire,” Abner joked.
