Morillon was born March 22, 1976, in Artesia, the son of Armando Morillon and Norma (Chavez) Morillon. He was a lifelong Artesia resident.

On June 5, 2004, he married Mandi Carlo in Carlsbad.

He was a Spanish teacher at Artesia High School, along with coaching basketball, track and cross country for the Bulldogs.

He was raised Catholic.

He and his family later became members of West Main Baptist Church.

Morillon was an adoring husband, father, brother and friend who was known for his countless qualities: his kind heart, his generosity, being a motivator, always available as needed, his encouragement of people to pursue their dreams, his ability to make anyone feel special and appreciated, and his encouragement to his fellow students/athletes to never give up and to run with perseverance.

“Coach Mo” made us laugh, wiped our tears, hugged us tight, watched us succeed, kept us strong, and we will never forget him. He will continue to be a part of our daily thoughts and decisions we make.

He was a Godly man who always put his family first. He was a devoted husband, father to two wonderful kids, Mateo and Makaylee, a loving son/son-in-law, and touched the lives of countless students within the community.

Marcos was always doing good! His love will live on for generations.

Survivors include his spouse, Mandi Morillon, of the family home; son Mateo Morillon of Artesia; daughter Makaylee Morillon of Artesia; sisters Valeria Madrid and husband Daniel of Artesia, Laura Morillon and husband David Urban of Albuquerque, and Marisela Johnson and husband Jack of Sahuarita, Ariz.; brothers Adrian Morillon of Albuquerque and Santiago Morillon of Artesia; parents Norma and Armando Morillon of Artesia; grandmother Irene Rivera of Oklahoma City, Okla.; numerous cousins and nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Maria Antillon “Luz Chavez.”

His caring heart and kindness gained him respect across his community, and his family appreciates the outpouring this community has expressed.

A fund has been established at Artesia Credit Union under the name Marcos Morillon, account number 119756.

Arrangements are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
