David Conklin, right, is sworn in by Judge Daniel Reyes Jr. at Monday’s meeting of the Artesia Public Schools Board of Education as the board’s newest member.

Conklin graduated from Artesia High School in 1980 and has seen three children through the APS system, with a grandson entering third grade at Yeso Elementary School.

Conklin’s daughter, Tara Colwell, currently teaches fifth-grade at Hermosa Elementary School, and his wife, Beth, is a Title I aide at Yeso and Grand Heights Early Childhood Center.
