Roswell — Beginning next week, the Spring River Park and Zoo will be closed each Tuesday. Each week, staff will spend that day tending to maintenance and upkeep projects that cannot be efficiently or safely carried out while the zoo is open to the public.

This will provide one day a week when heavy equipment can be brought in for special projects, and work such as painting and major landscaping and other improvements to the grounds and facilities can be conducted without disturbing visitors or posing safety hazards to the public.

The zoo, which has no admission charge and will remain open every day of the week except Tuesdays from 10 a.m.

to 8 p.m. through Labor Day, Sept. 7.

After Labor Day and continuing through October, the zoo will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

From November through February, the zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Tuesday closures begin Aug. 11.

The zoo, at the corner of East College Boulevard and Atkinson Avenue, can be contacted at (575) 624-6760.
