ALAMOGORDO, CLOUDCROFT, HIGH ROLLS – The temporary closure order for the Two Goats project area on the Sacramento Ranger District (Order No. 08-274) has been amended. The amended order became effective on July 27, and shall remain in effect until September 1, unless rescinded sooner.
The newly signed order reopens Karr Canyon Road and Karr Canyon Campground which has been closed for the last few months. The affected area still includes areas east of Westside Road (FR 90) from High Rolls south to Alamo Canyon. The purpose of this temporary closure is to ensure public safety, while contractors complete mastication removal of timber to reduce fire hazards to the area. As mastication work progresses within the project area, the closure order will be modified to allow access to areas where work has been completed.
